Course Description
Course Profile
The Institute of Physics offers education in the field of Data Engineering. The main goal of this study is education of specialist having necessary basic knowledge as well as practical skills and experience in data collection, exploration, analysis and interpretation, using modern IT tools. This study has rather interdisciplinary character with respect of applications and it is based on fundamentals of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Educating an alumnus possessing:
• knowledge and abilities in data engineering, based on newest technologies and software tools,
• ability of a practical use of basic software platforms and computer codes devoted to data analysis, deep learning, artificial intelligence,
• ability of basic programming in Phython and the use of basic libraries of dedicated software,
• knowledge in the general problematics of the studied fields,
• ability of practical applications of the acquired knowledge and skills in professional career.
RECRUITMENT
Recruitment is carried out on the basis of the results of the secondary school-leaving examinations in Polish language (20%), mathematics (70%) and a foreign language (10%). The results of the exams at the basic level or at the advanced level multiplied by 2 are taken into account.
GRADUATE PROFILE
Data Engineering graduates will have opportunities to find employment in institutions and companies specializing in data acquisition and processing or data protection (such as statistics/accounting offices, various businesses, universities, research laboratories, software development companies), at positions requiring fluent practical skills in data analysis.

Introduction to Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, Computer Systems Organization, Databases, Database Systems, Data Visualization Techniques, Evolutionary Algorithms, Data Mining Algorithms, Neural Network Fundamentals, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Systems Security.
Education Requirements
• Printout of the personal questionnaire (the candidate confirms the accuracy of the data contained in the questionnaire with his/her own signature);
• A photocopy of the secondary school leaving certificate (together with the original to be presented to the University for certification) entitling to apply for studies in the country of origin together with a translation into Polish;
• A photocopy of an apostille or legalization of a foreign secondary school graduation certificate for candidates from countries that have not acceded to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961 (Journal of Laws of 2005, No. 112, item 938) with a translation into Polish (along with the original to be presented for certification by the University);
• A photocopy of a document granting status entitling to study without paying fees (along with the original to be inspected, to be certified by the University);
• confirmation of the use of temporary protection - crossing the border of the Republic of Poland with Ukraine after 24.02.2022 by a citizen of Ukraine, or the spouse of the citizen of Ukraine who does not have Ukrainian citizenship,
• a document confirming the use of temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
• a document confirming the use of subsidiary protection on the territory of the Republic of Poland,
• Pole's card
• decision on determination of Polish origin,
• permanent resident card,
• long-term resident of the European Union,
• temporary residence card in connection with the circumstances referred to in Article 159, Section 1 of the Act on Foreigners (the decision on granting the permit must specify this provision - attach a scan of the decision),
• a temporary residence card in connection with circumstances referred to in Article 186, Section 1, point 3 or 4 of the Act on Foreigners (this provision must be indicated on the decision granting the permit - attach a scan of the decision),
• a certificate attesting knowledge of Polish as a foreign language at least at the level of language proficiency C1. The authorization document is only a certificate issued by the State Commission for Certification of Knowledge of Polish as a Foreign Language.
• Confirmation of knowledge of the Polish language for studies conducted in Polish:
• certificate of proficiency in Polish issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language, or
• a document confirming the completion of a one-year preparatory course for taking up studies in Polish in units designated by the minister responsible for higher education, or
• confirmation of the knowledge of the Polish language issued by the Commission for the Knowledge of the Polish Language appointed by the Rector on the basis of separate regulations.
• Confirmation of English language proficiency for studies conducted in English.
• 1 colour photograph in electronic version - jpg, 2cm x 2. 5cm, 236 x 295 pixels - via registration form;
• 1 paper photograph in accordance with the requirements used for issuing identity cards (the same as the digital photograph attached to the online registration form)
• A photocopy of a sickness or accident insurance policy for the period of the first year of study in the Republic of Poland, or a European Health Insurance Card or a declaration of voluntary enrollment in the National Health Fund immediately after the start of study.
