Course Description
Course Profile
Central Europe in the International Perspective is an innovative course of English-language graduate studies at the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU). CEIP classes focus on the interdisciplinary specificities of contemporary Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula in the broad context of their literature, historical background and everyday cultural practices. The course is conducted by all institutes of the Faculty, so that the future graduate will acquire the comprehensive competencies necessary for not only professions related to philology, but also those that involve direct cooperation and communication with people from various national and cultural backgrounds in Central Europe and the Balkans. CEIP lecturers draw on years of experience working with international students within the degree course Central European and Balkan Studies.

Graduate competencies
Knowledge of globalization and digitalization processes, as well as political and social changes in the formation of contemporary Central European literatures and cultures.
Knowledge of the functioning of cultural institutions and trends in contemporary cultural life in Central Europe.
Knowledge of the key mechanisms governing the sociology and economics of cultural and literary life, as well as the elementary principles of the creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship in Central Europe and the Balkans.
Knowledge of intercultural literary communication.
Ability to work in an intercultural environment.
Proficiency in specialized English.
Career prospects
CEIP graduates will be able to find employment in
cultural centers,
commercial companies,
corporations,
diplomatic missions,
tourist companies,
and in all those institutions where knowledge of the culture of Central Europe and the Balkans and its interaction with other circles of civilization is an essential component of the profession.
Education Requirements
Set of documents
• photo file which will be used when generating the personal questionnaire
• a scan of university diploma
• a document confirming knowledge of English at B2 level
Candidates with documents obtained abroad also provide:
• a scan of a foreign document, which is legalized or accompanied by an apostille, entitling the candidate to take up higher education studies in the country where the document was issued
• a scan of translation of the document into the language of the studies undertaken by the candidate, performed by a sworn translator entered into the list of sworn translators maintained by the Polish Minister of Justice, or certified by a Polish consul in the country where the document was issued
• a scan of the document recognizing the foreign certificate as equivalent to the Polish Matura certificate – in the case of candidates for first-cycle or long-cycle master's studies to whom this applies
• a scan of the document recognizing the foreign diploma as equivalent to the Polish diploma – in the case of candidates for second-cycle studies to whom this applies
• a scan of a document confirming the entitlement to study tuition-free – in the case of the foreigners concerned
